JUNIOR HIGH PARTNER TEACHER
I feel the two most important keys to success in the classroom are trust and respect. My priority is establishing a mutual relationship with my students in which they know they can trust me because I respect their thoughts, feelings, and academic growth. In response, I trust my class to respect me, each other, administrators, other teachers, parents, visitors, or anyone else who enters the classroom. I center my class on the power of Growth Mindset, Gold Standard Project Based Learning, and the three main components of the Leader in Me program– Academics, Leadership, and Culture.
I am a firm supporter of the Creative Arts being taught in schools. My specialty is to teach Art and Art History. I want students to understand the elements of art, so their artistic quality can be meaningful and show expression depth. Art History is an important part of my art curriculum. Students are shown prints of art masterpieces, taught about the artists, and art movements. At the end of the year, we take a field trip to the BYU Museum of Art. Students use the knowledge gained over the year to appreciate their time at the museum.
