Michael Simpson

Board Member

For over 25 years, Michael’s practical, real world, business experience has been in corporate leadership, executive development, executive coaching, advisory and consulting services, sales and marketing, and business development.

Michael is an internationally sought after executive coach and consultant. He is the Global Director for FranklinCovey – Columbia University’s Executive Coaching Certification Program. Michael is a Senior Consultant in FranklinCovey’s Leadership, Strategy Execution, and Trust Practices and an executive coach to many of the world’s top leaders from Fortune 50 companies.

Mr. Simpson was on faculty for three years instructing senior executives with the late Dr. Stephen R. Covey and Dr. Ram Charan at FranklinCovey’s Executive Leadership Summit held at Deer Valley and Sundance, Utah ski resorts.

Formerly, Mr. Simpson was a Principal Consultant for the global management consulting firm, PricewaterhouseCooper’s (PwC) in their Strategic and Organizational Change Practice in New York City, NY. Michael has held executive management positions’ for two leading technology companies as Vice President of Sales and Marketing and Vice President of Business Development.  

For over 18 years at FranklinCovey, Michael has delivered, advised, and coached some of the world’s top leaders and teams in leadership, strategy execution, and talent management.  He has certified and coached executives throughout the United States, Canada, China, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Mexico, Panama, Venezuela, Brazil, Great Britain, Denmark, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Russia, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia.

In 1995-96, Michael was an External Consultant for Nike in Guangzhou, China.  He designed and developed a year-long ‘leadership program’ for Chinese hi potential managers. This course was rated as the #1 management development program at Nike. Michael was voted by the Chinese Government’s Guangdong’s Commission of Higher Education as one of the top 10 foreign professors among 150 teachers at South China’s University of Technology in Guangzhou. He has been an Adjunct Professor at Columbia College’s School of Business Administration and taught classes in Organizational Behavior and Leadership at BYU’s Marriott School of Management.

Michael has a master’s degree in Organizational Behavior from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Brigham Young University. He has his External Coaching Certification from Columbia University’s Executive Coaching Certification Program and a Graduate Studies Certificate in Conflict Resolution and Mediation from the International Center for Cooperation and Conflict Resolution (ICCCR).  Michael and his wife Cynthia live near the beautiful Wasatch Mountains of Utah with their four boys: Zachary, Luke, Jacob, and McKay. He enjoys traveling, snow skiing, mountain biking, tennis, and golf.
