Marci Akagi

As early as I can remember I wanted to be a teacher. I am the oldest of five and eagerly helped my siblings learn all I could. Life experiences took me a different direction and I earned a degree in Psychology, but my heart still yearned to spend my days teaching and learning from children.

This will be my fourth year at Ivy Hall, but I have taught preschool, kindergarten and worked in classrooms over the last 20 years. Much of my life has been spent teaching and loving children, both my own and others’. I love to watch the magic in a child’s eyes as they learn something new, problem solve and better understand concepts. I also enjoy and value learning from my students as they greatly impact my life for the better.

My husband Chad and I live in Provo and have a beautiful blended family. Our oldest Tayson, is married and lives in Payson. Paige is next. She is studying Psychology at UVU and is an amazing artist and musician. Alyssa is working to save money for a mission this coming year. Alex is our youngest and has just graduated high school. He is our family’s comic relief. We love to be together and work hard to make this happen even with busy young adult and teenage children.

I enjoy refinishing furniture, gardening, reading and being with my family.
