
BOARD MEMBER/CHINESE STUDIES DIRECTOR
Joyce Tan graduated from BYU Hawaii (1995) in TESOL Education, minoring in P.E. She obtained her Masters in Educational Leadership at BYU (2001) together with her Special Ed. and PE coaching certifications. Thereafter, she taught ESL at BYU Hawaii (2002-2008) and later at UVU and BYU in the McKay School of Education. Together with her husband Peter Chan, she helped build international schools in China including one in Spanish Fork. They have three children and a granddaughter. Joyce enjoys establishing ESL programs, playing pickleball, and is currently getting her doctorate at Johns Hopkins University. She’s excited to help Ivy Hall build a rigorous Chinese Immersion program and aims to make it the best school in Utah.
